New Year's Resolution...

Messes have never bothered me, and cleaning has never really been something that was important to me to learn. Then I went on bed rest during my pregnancy with Corry, and the nesting instincts hit me, and I couldn't do anything about it because I was on bed rest. And then I had a new born, and I just haven't been able to really get it under control, and (I know this will sound miraculous to some) NOW I CARE IF MY HOUSE IS MESSY!!!!!!!!!!

SO... This year, I am starting a new chapter in my life, Corry is getting big enough that he is mobile, and doesn't need constant care, and that means that I don't have an excuse for not making some changes in my life. I want to write down some of my resolutions so that I will be able to be accountable for them later.

1. Learn to F.L.Y (Finally Love Yourself) and get my house in order.

2. Keep track of my food and exercise on MyFitnessPal to make sure that I eat healthily.

3. A load (of laundry) a day keeps the C.H.A.O.S (Can't*Have*Anyone*Over*Syndrome) away. * This means, washed, dried, folded, and put away, in the same day.

4. Read my scriptures everyday.

5. Plan a menu each week, and go shopping from the menu so that I don't buy junk just because I'm hungry, and don't know what I have or need.

6. BUDGET!!!

7. Blog more regularly to keep a diary of sorts for my family and then things that are happening. :)

These are my goals for the year. They are things that I can do without spending money, and will probably save me money, and they are things that I can start doing TODAY. I have to just realize that this is my job, these things are things that will bless myself and my family. It will make it so that I have more time with my family and less time looking at my messy house and being discouraged because there is so much to do and I don't know where to start. It will teach my son that it is good to work, and hopefully he will want to help. He already picks up his toys and goes back into his room and puts them in his toy box. He takes pretty much everything in there and it goes in the toy box. :) I want my son to learn to clean and to like it. I hate cleaning (despite the efforts of my mom to teach me to do it, and how to keep things clean) and I hope that Corry doesn't have to learn how to do it as an adult, and can just stay clean like he is now. He is so much happier when the house is clean and he can go wherever he wants, and not have to trip over toys and clothes, etc... This year I am going to bless myself and my family and help the spirit be in my home more abundantly.

On my mission, in my first area I had a roommate named Morgan and she was one of the most organized and put together people I have ever met. Luckily we didn't share a room, just the house, or she would have been miserable in my mess. She told me one day that I should get things in order because "Cleanliness is next to Godliness." I looked at her and probably rolled my eyes, and I may have cleaned up a little. But what she said comes back to me now, and I see her face when I am staring at my messy house not knowing what to do with the mess. I can feel the spirit more strongly in my home when it is clean, proving the truth of the statement that she made.

So this year I am going to bring my home closer to God, and be the wife and mother and woman that I know that God wants me to be. :) I will keep you all updated on my progress.
