The happy life of home-ownership...

Jeremy and I bought our home last December (2009), and we love living here close to both of our parents and in the area where we both grew up. Our house is more than 30 years old though and so there have been some adventures. 2 months after we moved in our neighbor's pipes burst and flooded her house, then proceeded to flood our house since the two are connected by the living room wall. So that turned out to be kind of a blessing in disguise because we were able to replace the carpet all throughout, the tile in the kitchen, and the paint in the living room and kitchen. Then we had a few months of quiet. Then on Friday our refrigerator (which we got from my husband's parents) started to leak and the freezer stopped freezing, and we were a little worried. But luckily on Saturday we found a 2 year old refrigerator at a garage sale for $200 dollars because the owners were moving and couldn't take it with them. But then the swamp cooler died, and we had to get a new one and Jeremy and his dad installed it... then we got the water bill and it was about $40 more than normal, and Jeremy noticed that there is a nice plush green patch of weeds in the middle of the front yard surrounded by a bunch of dead ones. SO he realized that there is a pipe leaking in our front yard somewhere irrigating our weeds. :( So today the plumber is coming and lets hope that they can fix the leak and that it won't be a bigger problem than we anticipated. :) But we wouldn't trade it for the world there is nothing like owning your own home and being able to know that you will have many happy memories there in the future. :)

Wow! Welcome to home ownership...that's all I have to say. Anytime something goes wrong with our house, that's what my dad tells me.

This was followed closely within about 2 weeks with a second flood. The Pipes burst in our bedroom wall flooding whatever parts were not effected by the first flood :) however now 6 months later the house is great and we have re-piped in hopes that we will not be enjoying any more waterworks INSIDE our house :)
