The happy life of home-ownership...

Jeremy and I bought our home last December (2009), and we love living here close to both of our parents and in the area where we both grew up. Our house is more than 30 years old though and so there have been some adventures. 2 months after we moved in our neighbor's pipes burst and flooded her house, then proceeded to flood our house since the two are connected by the living room wall. So that turned out to be kind of a blessing in disguise because we were able to replace the carpet all throughout, the tile in the kitchen, and the paint in the living room and kitchen. Then we had a few months of quiet. Then on Friday our refrigerator (which we got from my husband's parents) started to leak and the freezer stopped freezing, and we were a little worried. But luckily on Saturday we found a 2 year old refrigerator at a garage sale for $200 dollars because the owners were moving and couldn't take it with them. But then the swamp cooler died, and we had to get a new one and Jeremy and his dad installed it... then we got the water bill and it was about $40 more than normal, and Jeremy noticed that there is a nice plush green patch of weeds in the middle of the front yard surrounded by a bunch of dead ones. SO he realized that there is a pipe leaking in our front yard somewhere irrigating our weeds. :( So today the plumber is coming and lets hope that they can fix the leak and that it won't be a bigger problem than we anticipated. :) But we wouldn't trade it for the world there is nothing like owning your own home and being able to know that you will have many happy memories there in the future. :)

Why I don't blog very often...

(my frustrated face)

So I read my sister's blog this morning and then I was reading my friend's blog, and I decided that I should get on here and do some blogging of my own... and then I remembered why I don't blog very often... EVERY TIME THAT I GET ON HERE TO POST A BLOG I HAVE TO RESET THE PASSWORD 5 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL LET ME SIGN IN! I think however that I could possibly remedy this situation by simply blogging more so that I don't forget the password that I have previously used :) Who here thinks that this would be a good idea?

Easter Sunday Morning is Doomed forever!!!

So.... to explain this title let me shed some light on the outcome of the 2 times that we have tried to have Easter Morning Breakfast with our parents. Last year we were in our first apartment, and we decided to have Easter breakfast at our house instead of going to one of our parent's house. Jeremy made most of the food for breakfast, and my ONLY assignment was the bacon. And while I was putting a few new pieces of bacon into the pan some of the oil splashed out onto my foot. Now in my husband's defense I have a tendency to get scared and exaggerate, I screamed bloody murder, and he kind of thought I was overreacting and said to go and wash it off, and he would finish. So I went and washed it off, and didn't know how bad the burn was for about 5-10 minutes. A large red welt formed on the top of my foot that was about the size of a large egg. I put mustard on it so luckily it didn't scar, but it hurt A LOT! My husband felt really bad because he didn't know how much had gotten onto my foot, it had only splashed a little bit of oil onto his big toe.
Now skipping to this year, we both joked that maybe he should handle the bacon given the problems that we had last year. So I was in charge of the eggs, and I was doing something else, so Jeremy was watching the eggs, and he gave me my two eggs on a plate. And then the timer on the tater tots beeped so I reached over and turned it off and then opened the oven and leaned over to see if they were done. Then I stepped back, and realized that I had forgotten about the eggs on my plate, as I stepped with both feet into my fried eggs over easy :). It was great. Chantel came with a paper towel and cleaned up a little of the mess, and then I crawled into the bathroom to wash the rest of the egg yolk off my foot. We've decided that maybe we just shouldn't do Easter breakfast at our house. Because this doesn't generally happen, but it has now happened twice :). But all in all we are having a great conference Sunday, and we are enjoying spending the Easter holiday with our families. Tonight we will go to Grandma Henson's (Jeremy's Grandma) house for dinner.
HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE!

New Adventures of Our 10 Cents...

So the newest adventure that we have embarked on is buying our first home... shortly followed by an almost total renovation that was brought on as a result of a flood. So I was slightly traumatized at the beginning, but Jeremy calmed me down and explained that we get new paint, carpet and tile in our house... and we don't have to pay for it. So I became a little less traumatized, but still did not appreciate having my new home torn apart. We just started week 4 being out of the house, and are ready to be done. The carpet was put in on Monday Feb 22. And so following a final walk through with the contractor on Saturday... we can finally move back in to our house. We have really appreciated Mom and Dad Nichols letting us move our bed into their house and set up residence there temporarily. And we appreciate Mom and Dad Evans letting us come and eat, and helping with ideas on the renovation and decoration. I got to spend a really fun day with Mom last week and it was wonderful to go to Lunch and then go shopping. I don't know how good of an idea it was to have us go to Target alone with each other though... Mom ended up with 2 new purses and a wallet. And I just barely made it out of the store without a new purse myself. I think it is safe to say that I am a girl after her own heart... I mean it's almost as if we are related. :) Love ya Mom!

Well, I will update more soon, and follow up with pictures of the house as we progress in the moving back in of all of our stuff.

Love you all!

Pampered Nichols

So Jeremy and I have recently started our own home business selling Pampered Chef. It is great. We have been having lots of fun. Jeremy loves to cook and I love to talk, so it works out great. We have been doing it for about a month and a half, and we are hoping that it is going to help us so that I don't have to work while I'm at school. It's going to be great. To see about our business you can visit our great new web site

Our first birthdays...

So, we have now each had a birthday since we got married, and both of them were great. For his we were coming home from Utah, and he drove the entire way home. We watched movies on his lap top, and ate junk food, and un-beknownst to me, he was spending the whole time racing against the estimated time on his gps seeing how much time he could take off. But it was a good drive and then we got to spend the rest of the night together. For my birthday I had the day off work, but only because I was sick. So Jeremy brought me home flowers and then said that we could do whatever I wanted that night. So we went to dinner, and then he took me to the mall to use the gift certificate that his parents gave me. Then we came home. All in all they were good just because we spent them together. I love that guy more than I can ever say.

The New Year.....

So, it has been a while since I have posted, but I guess that it is better late than never. We had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! I was lucky enough to be off both Christmas and New Year's Eve and got to spend them with my husband and our families. I had to work Christmas and New Year's Days but that is ok because I don't go in until 8 pm.
So we spent a lot of time together and with our families. Teandra and Mark came down from Indiana to be with us and that was a wonderful treat. We took family pictures Minus Kiki and Alex and their chilluns and we are going to have them take family pictures and photo shop them in. We were sad they couldn't be there, but in all fairness, we got them last year when Teda got married at Christmas time. So it was a good trade off I guess.
Well, I don't have anything more interesting to blog about so I will wait. We are going to the Brian Regan show this weekend and I will tell you more about that when we get back.

OHHHHHH! I almost forgot... I am going back to day shift Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. So I am way excited about that because I can have the same schedule with my husband and be with him more, and a little more normal too :)
